Terrible customer care and immoral behavior. On Friday 5/3 I woke up to get my cars out of the garage only to find the cables snapped and apparently my springs not working. I contacted multiple garage repair business to see if I can get a quote and for someone to come out. ( a list given my Angi List). 5 Star was the only one able to come out same day. The technician who came out verbally quoted me $735 for the springs (yes plural) and about 300 for labor. I called my husband, to confirm since I have ZERO experience in garage repair. The technician repeated the above quote to my husband on the phone and on speaker and I said it back to him. I did the math and said â this will be about $1100 Give or take, correct? â and the technician said â yes. He also made a comment to me when I said that I would like to contact my husband for confirmation, â is it your husband who makes financial decisions I chocked it up to be a joke, but it was very awkward. Fast forward two hours later, we were handed a bill of $735 x 2 ( $1470) because the springs were $735 separately. Not combined like he implied. Plus over 300 for labor ( this I understand) plus 8.9 sales tax. The total came to about $ 2300. Which I was expected to pay. He then asked me for cash. WHO THE HECK HAS $2300 cash laying around??? When I said this now needs to be added to a credit card he wanted to charge me 8% for the credit card fee. When I explained that due to the amount that I was originally expecting, we need to now put this on a credit card- he called his supervisor and agreed to decrease the credit card charge to 5%. ( gee thanks!). The grand total charged to my credit card $2418. So how do I believe 5 Star or its employees to be immoral??? First taking advantage of their customers by providing a quote verbally, hoping to confuse us ( both to me and my husband for a total of two times) which it worked- and to charge us like this for two springs. I even verbally confirmed the expected price back to the technician. Did he correct me????? NO! absolutely not!!!!! That is immoral. If he heard me repeat the price to him and it was wrong- and he knew he was going to charge me $735 for each spring- he should had said â no I am sorry mam, let me be more clear itâ s $735 for each. â I will not be using them again. If you want to use them great but get a written quote before you agree. And do your research. I went through Angi s list to get the list of experienced and morally sound, high quality professionals. This is the first and only time I will assume Angi List is accurate. Because, after this occurred I searched 5 Star Garage Doors on both Google and Yelp- I found nothing but 1 Star reviews with similar people who had the exact experience as me. All were ripped off by a double or tripled price then they were originally offered. So I do not know how Angi customers are placing 5 starts for this company. Because all other examples prove otherwise. Do your research and get a written quote before working with 5 Star Garage. Plus side- my garage door opens.

On Friday may 3rd, my garage door not allowing me open, I contacted multiple sites and 5 start was the only one who could come out on the same day, the gentlemen quoted me $735 to replace the spring, and about $300 for labor. Then I ask to contact my husband to confirm, And the technician replied and "is it your husband who makes the financial decision?" we verbally did the math together, and the technician and I agreed that the price would be about a thousand dollars. then 2 hrs later, the technician gave us the bill, and charge us $2500. When we broke down the cost, he charged us for 2 springs $735 each, which he did not clarify earlier, another $350 for labor and 8.9% sales tax, and another 5% charge credit card.so total came out about $2500, the technician was also very aerated because we didn't have $2300 in cash had to use credit card. I believe that 5 star garage uses immoral sales tactics by verbally giving quotes, having them be repeated to them and turning around and charging more. Please request a written Quote before you agree the service.

Came out immediately, friendly, got the main job done. But the free estimate was not free or an estimate. He wants to take the spring off to measure it a you need to pay for the labor cost. Told me spring is between $100-150. Labor and the cost was in what my planned budget was. But then the spring was $250, after he measured it and told me. I get other things were found and other things were fixed or postponed, but those also had a big fluctuation in prices, the first price then the I can do it for $xxx.xx Great guy, and I am sure the company is great, but I feel that they wanted to take advantage of me. But I am thankful they fixed it immediately.
