Thank you Marie!
Long on Promises, Short on Delivery: We were quite disappointed with the quality of work done by Paw Paws Landscaping. Part of the work they were hired to do was a flagstone patio in the backyard. The final result was so bad that they decided to tear it all out and begin laying stones again. At this point, we were strongly inclined to finish with another company. We might have allowed them to finish the job had the project manager, ONeal communicated better with us and been more accommodating to our concerns. Instead he pushed very strongly that he be allowed to continue work on his timeline. We lost confidence in him and his company and parted ways without the job being completed. After paying half of the project estimate up front, but with less than half of the work done, we feel justified in our decision to go with another company. We have since completed our project with a different company with a much better experience. The new company has pointed out several serious deficiencies in Paw Paws plan and execution which would have caused us serious problems in the near future had we allowed them to complete our patio. We recommend not using Paw Paws Landscape for your project. After seeing Paw Paws Landscape response I would just like to add the following: Regardless of how many patios this company has built or how many years of experience the mason has, this project was a failure. Nothing in my review is untrue. I had no communication with Brian Borne during the time of construction, and he has no direct knowledge of the circumstances. He knows only what he was told by Oâ Neal, his project manager, whose abrasive manner was a primary reason for terminating the work on this project and turning it over to another company. Anyone interested in hiring a landscaping company would be well advised to read Brianâ s response. This is how you may be treated.
Leann, This is a complete lie we have installed hundreds of decks. The mason we sent to do your job has thirty years experience! We offered to redo the job and you lied to us telling us you needed to shut the job done to leave for out of town. Turned out that was a lie, the real reason was you had hired another company. Your story is a big lie! Brian Borne.
Stay away from this company!!!!! Brian Borne is a very personable person who promised me the world and failed to deliver. On the positive side. Felipe and his crew are masters craftsman especially with the stonework they did. I was totally blown away the first day I saw the figure 8 stone planter in the Front yard. The only gripe I have I have is with Brian Borne Business practices. He promised me a beautiful full yard renovation, I was impressed with his vision. The estimate started at 20K. The final bill over 35 K. The weather played a huge factor in destroying the grad and subgrade for the sod. I paid over 6k just for the labor to have the ground prepped, leveled, amended topsoil added. The day the Sod arrived is was storming and pouring rain. After advising the PM and owner over 6 times we should delay the install due to whether they disregarded my request and installed anyway. The crew were slopping around in the mud, destroyed the grade, and left me with lumpy bumpy, rutted install that was soaked for over a week. The sod develops brown fungus and after his bobcat ran over several sprinkler lines that were never repaired left me with some dead sod. The fence repair was done by a guy named Mike and it was a total disaster. He never completed the job and took over 5 days pushing the project behind schedule. He would show up and work for a couple of hours and then disappear. I fired him and Felipe took 2 days to correct Mikes substandard work. Now for the final bill. I was charged extras for all of Paw Paws mistakes and the weather mishaps. I recall being charged for a dump truck of soil that washed away in the rain just sitting in the front yard. I was charged over 6k for the fence repair when I saw the actual invoice for materials was apt 2,200. The Sod arrived poorly and thinly cut and the installers just threw any piece down as quickly as possible during the rainstorm. In the end, I had to pay another company to level and fill the yard, treat the fungus, pay for additional sprinkler repair due to damage the day the got the bobcat stuck in the mud. In summary, when you are spending over 30k for a landscape renovation you should expect excellence. Brian Born is worse than your worst car sale person, Promise everything, overcharged, and make you smile in the end when you get the bill. Please do your research before you decide to use this company. In closing, I do want to thank Felipe and his crew they are the hardest working guys and masters with brickwork. Too bad the owner is just concerned about profit. I waited over a month to write this review to see if the lawn would settle in and look fantastic and Brain promised but unfortunately, that was not the case. Key Points: The owner never shows up on the project to oversee progress. No control or organization of sub-contractors. Project delays due to incompetent sub-contractors and double-billed to correct the first contractors mistakes. Overbilled for material loss due to weather that could have been prevented with a tarp. Refused till compacted soil wanted to just dump topsoil on top. Sub grad not prepare properly and leveled with topsoil that compressed and left sinkholes and uneven grade. Sod not installed properly with large gaps between seams. I asked for the final payment before the project was completed. Punch down list not completed. Property, driveway, and street left muddy requiring a power washing company and additional expense to clean up. I usually do not leave a review. Only for outstanding service and well this kind of service.
Scott, I am sorry the rain washed away the dirt and made the grass less than perfect! I wish you had advised us that you weren't completely sasitified before you decided to hire another company. I feel that we did deliver the world to you plus several other items you requested that was never talked about until the job was underway. Really Surprised, Brian
was able to deliver soil the next morning
Wonderful crew members..very polite and courteous...work quality exceptional
I had Paw Paws install a fence for me and they used quality material (the posts were much thicker than what is available at the big box stores) and they did a great job ! I will definitely refer them to family, friends and neighbors.
Brian Borne has built an outstanding wrought iron/pipe fence for our retirement home. He easily met the rigid standards of the persnickety POA. I couldn't be more pleased with the detailed workmanship. This fence will last longer than me. Subsequently, I hired Brian for my landscaping. He's energetic and gets to work!
I worked with Jeff and he listened to what my vision was and nailed it!
These guys were fantastic. They worked great w/you. Would give you recommendations & other great tips & ideas. Money well spent. 珞珞珞珞
The young men who worked on my landscaping project were polite, pleasant, listened to what I wanted and worked really hard.
