Smoky Mountain Building

I purchased Smoky Mountain Building's first built home in Nashville. The house still has some unresolved issues. The new home purchase came with a 1 year builder's warranty by SMB, but I had a terrible experience dealing with the company for warranty repairs and had difficulty in getting issues resolved and am still waiting for a resolution to the master bathroom shower multiple years later. The main issue was the master bathroom shower had a leak due to improper install and required redoing the entire shower and replacing the mud barrier underneath the tile. The repairs did not go as planned and I am still left with a shower with defects. I am left with expensive repairs that I will have to redo myself as well as all the lost time, energy and frustration of having to deal with SMB and the situation. I cannot recommend Smoky Mountain Building.

Mine was an exceptionally satisfying experience with work completed well within target time and budget expectations. Unlike several other contractors whom I had interviewed and followed up over a stretch of time, Owner/Contractor, Forrest Gray, was attentive, knowledgeable, and unfazed to take on the demands involving several corrective projects resulting from sloppy work done during the rapid building craze of 6-7 years ago. While none of the work was structural, the needed repairs and renovations took place seamlessly. The different work crews sometimes working in 30 degrees weather showed up on time, were skillful and reliable. Even when work had to be redone to get a more perfect finish, crew members and supervisors were respectful of each other contributions to get the project completed right. As a woman client in a basically masculine world of contractors, I was very pleased with how my inquiries for quality work and competence were welcomed and taken seriously. I was especially pleased with the new integrity and freshness of the completed efforts. A lovely focus was the newly imagined Juliet Balcony which turned a previous eyesore to an inviting space. The 2-year old firm (bonded and insured) has a great deal of potential for growth and I am happy to have been a part of its continuing success.

I had old wooden siding replaced with Fiber-Cement Siding. The work was well done! I did have to call back to get the work area cleaned up properly; however, after alerting, the cleanup was promptly executed.

I have a home that was build in the 1950s. The stairwell to the basement sat right in the middle of the house and separated my dining room from my kitchen. I wanted to demolish the current stairwell and relocate it to another place in the house in order to open the space between my dining room and kitchen. This also opened up space in the basement. He also built a wall between the living area in the basement at my attached garage. Also, my HVAC and water heater needed to be relocated in order to open the basement up. This is why I listed this as a basement remodel in this review. Forrest and his crew did ALL of that with quality work and in a reasonable time. I can't even tell where the stairwell was. I am extremely satisfied with the work completed. I feel like I have a new house! I highly recommend Forrest and his crew.

Forrest and his crew were great to work with. Forrest was always prompt and willing to work around my schedule. Francisco was knowledgeable and professional, and all the guys in his crew were as well. I had them do some demo work for me in our kitchen, and they got the job done on time. The work was better than I expected! I would highly recommend Smoky Mountain Building, and plan to use them again for future remodeling needs!

Forrest and Team were extremely professional. Unlike most contractors, they under promised and over delivered. They showed up on the date and time as promised. Called before showing up, and responded promptly to any questions I had. The leak in my bathroom needed a plumber, which they immediately arranged for. They finished, painted and cleaned up very professionally and assured me I can always call if I see a follow up problem. Overall, I am very satisfied with the job they did.
