The process after acceptance of the quote was great, meeting with the respective mechanical experts who confirmed the scope of work, asked questions and also added recommendations. Work began right after Thanksgiving with an estimated completion of February... of course Covid-19 played a role in some delays, i.e. inspections schedules, material availability, etc. causing the project to be a bit longer than we anticipated. Throughout we were kept up to date with the process. The end result is amazing, high quality workmanship, incorporating our "interactive" change requests along the way, providing a space that really meets all our expectations. The VDB team does what they say they will do and takes a genuine interest in their clients. By the way, did I mention there was no surprise to the budget... I highly recommend VDB.

Their behavior was very unprofessional. They did not provide a date of completion of project, started project 5 months after signing a contract and worked without building permits, plans or blueprints. Did not consult me during process. Very poor workmanship that I had to request some changes which was not accepted very well. initially when they converted bath tub to shower, even though they had enough room to make a spacious shower, they made a shower the same dimension as the bath tub, without enough room to lift your hands or wash your hair. They built a small wall from the ceiling to the floor, between the shower and the window, which was blocking light , without discussing that initially with me. They were working on floor tiles before working on the shower tiles, which was completely reverse process and left a small gap of about one inch in front of the shower. After two months, in August when they finally completed tiles in a shower, I noticed loud squeaking and crunching sound with every step on the shower floor. After I sent email, it took them five days to respond and come to my house to fix the issue. Apparently they used a glue from the basement ceiling to glue the shower base. After that ,they put three large 100 pounds steel weights on the shower floor. The other problem was the shower floor tiles were cracked intentionally to adjust to the slope of the floor towards the drain. When I asked for building inspection to be completed at the end of August, it turned out there was no building permit pulled for the project. After September 1st, I exchanged several emails with them asking for the status of the building permit, and projected project completion date. Their answer was the same as it has been for the last two and a half months--WE ARE WORKING ON THAT.. Eventually I had to terminate the contract with them. Now I am in process of finding new contractors to complete this job, but unfortunately they all agree I have to tear down all marble tiles from the showers in order to fix the issues with shower, and avoid shower floor instability, and potential leaks. This project has been going on for six months and the cost will be much higher than initial predicted. Please be very careful when you are hiring contractors, in order to avoid these type of problems that I am experiencing right now, especially with VBB Contractors.
