Reviews
Write a ReviewI wish I could give a 0 star review. These people are the most unprofessional people I have ever met. They target elderly people! I will break down this whole interaction for everyone. First itâ s my grandfather who hired these people to fix part of our foundation as it leaks whenever it rains. They required money up which makes sense, so we paid in full the amount they estimated the full cost of the job to be. When they then came out and started the job they found that it was worse than they expected and we then had to pay more than double what we had already paid. The man (his name was Chris Oâ Brian) then tried to get my grandfather to make the check out into his name instead of the company. My grandfather explained that if someone from the main office of the company would confirm that that was what he was supposed to do than he would. No one in the office ever got back to him and there was nothing on anything he signed stating to make the check out to the crew. So he made the check out to the company. Fast forward to a week after the job was done (which it didnâ t even fix the leaking problem and our basement still floods from the side that they â fixedâ and they tried telling us its not their fault that itâ s still leaking) they tried calling my grandparents saying the check bounced and he still owed them the entire 2nd amount. So my grandparents called their bank and surprised surprise the check was indeed cashed and not by Chris Oâ brian, but Iâ m assuming it was the accountant from the company as we didnâ t recognize the name but it was Fagan Conner. So my grandfather explained the next time they called demanding money that the check was indeed cashed and that they would show them the bank statement to prove it. They continued to denied that we paid and would then proceed to call us another 4 times over the next few days demanding money. They started SHOWING UP AT OUR HOUSE DEMANDING MONEY. We told them to leave and to stop bothering us or we were going to call the police. They still showed up 3 more times after that and were told to leave every time. Now fast forward another week to today. They call my grandparents demanding to take down their review because everyone could see it . I took the phone and explained I havenâ t even written our review yet because my grandparents are not very tech savvy so I was going to write the review but havenâ t even written it yet. They still argued with me that I was the one who wrote the review so I told them to keep an eye out for my name youâ ll see my review. So here it is. Oh and the cherry on top of this disaster of a cake? Our next door neighbor told us they saw one of the crew members peeing in our backyard! So yea -100/10 STAY AWAY!
Beware, they're very nice before they receive the money
Chris did a great job of building a set of front stairs for my 3 family in Somerville. He had to step in when I hired another mason that neglected to find out if a permit was necessary for the job and the build was held up for a month. Chris of Top Design squared away the snafu with the city, got the permit and built a beautiful set of brick and stone stairs. He was professional and does great work. He was quick and even fixed a small problem with s brick edging leading to the stairs that was not part of the contract but would have made the final job look unfinished.. not necessarily the cheapest but his prices are in the ball park without being over the top. Definitely fair pricing.
I highly recommend Top Design Masonry and Construction. We had a 70 year old chimney in need of repair work. The top 8 layers needed replacing, a new Flu was installed, other portions were repointed, 2 interior fireplace bricks were replaced and the outside was cleaned to remove the remnants of an old fibrous plant, along with acid washing to clean the entire chimney. The chimney now looks amazing! We could not be happier with the results. Chris O'Reilly and his team were professional, friendly, worked with us and were genuinely engaged in delivering a top quality result at a very fair price. All the work came with a 10 year guarantee also. I would not hesitate to use them again and am recommending them to our neighbors who have asked for their business information.
Top design masonry and co rebuilds my chimney. My old chimney needed to be taken down and a new one needed to be put in. Chris from the company was beyond helpful, he listened to exactly what I wanted and did as he said. Overall a very professional team and would highly recommend them When I first spoke to Chris he was quite prompt and responsive and thatâ s what drew me towards the company. After he came round he gave me honest feedback and a very competitive price. I got all the necessary paperwork which I needed. The service could not be faulted.
I would highly recommend Top Design Masonry And Construction for the works they have carried out at my property, from being prompt and responsive to being clean and tidy We had our chimney repointed and our stapes also repaired and repointed
"The project was completed in two days, on schedule. The crew they show up on time, but they finished the project on time and were willing to reschedule a quick repair to damage from a neighbor. The completed project is a great improvement!
I hired Top Design and Masonry Construction to re-point and waterproof my fieldstone basement. Chris gave me a really good price for the job and promised my satisfaction and a professional job. Originally Chris said the job would be completed in 2-3 days; however, it took 7 days of labor to complete with the 1 worker he had for the job. I rate them 5 stars, because not only does my basement looks wonderful-brand new, but Chris worked with me to ensure I was satisfied and all of my preferences were addressed. His worker, Alex, was very professional and respectful and also worked hard to complete the job to my liking. It's an A+job and well worth the wait for the results!
I am extremely happy with the work carried out by Chris. He was very easy to deal with and did a great job. He was extremely professional from the get-go. I would highly recommend the company. He came out on time and completed the work to a very high standard. I would be very happy to recommend him.
The work that was done was very good.. BUT. Chris is the most unprofessional contractor I have ever had the displeasure of hiring. He came out to give me a quote for waterproofing and repointing work I needed to be done in my basement, then when I hired his base on that quote, he revealed that the quote he sent me was only for HALF of the work we discussed, and he was talking with his team, to get me a quote for the rest of the work. He never presented a contract or statement of work to sign at any point, and I never received a receipt or invoice--only the original (half) quote. Despite that, I paid him for the work his laborers preformed anyway, and he has been blowing up my phone 3-to 4 times per day because he is impatient to get his money and cannot wait for the standard time a banking transfer needs to clear--and somehow thinks I can wave a magic wand and make it go faster for him.
