I hired Henry Pedaza of J.M.P. to build a fireplace surround and mantel. This was a relatively straightforward project. Because I had the oak wood, I provided the majority of the wood, he only had to provide the mantel shelf...which was cut too shallow, so there is a 1/2 gap where the shelf meets the wall. He literally cut and nailed up 7 pieces of trim board, filled the seams with putty and was done. I showed him my concerns, and we agreed he would come back the next day to tweak his work to my satisfaction and complete another small task, the baseboard. He did not sweep, nor pick up the scrap wood or anything. I paid him (like a fool --$950.00!!!) and of course, you guessed it, he did not show up the next day or next or next. I called, texted left messages and no reply. I was wrong to pay him before being satisfied,(my bad) but I trusted him. PLEASE DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN!! HE DEFINITELY SCAMMED ME!!!

We had a section of fence blow down during our latest wind storm. Within a day of being engaged Henry had procured materials and had completed replacement of fence section. I highly recommend Henry! fair pricing, excellent work and responsive communication. I will use Henry again for our next carpentry project.

Timely and responsive communication, was flexible with our timeline and helped us out on relatively short notice. Installed crown molding and a mantle for us with precision. Excellent work and was very nice. Would definitely recommend and will consider for future needs!

I hired Henry to fix a shed and rebuild decks, which he did masterfully! Henry was professional throughout the job, arriving on time and staying in contact with me to consult about wood and stains. He completed the job in less than a week. I will definitely hire him again!

Henry wanted my complete satisfaction every step of the way. He cared about my opinions, answered questions and gave ideas as I requested and was a pleasure to work with. He was punctual and cleaned up everything at the end of the day. The job was completed in great time. I will be hiring this company in the near future for other jobs. No need to get other estimates!

Previous Reviews Do Not Match Our Experience: Hired JMP to rebuild a brick column, tuckpoint two brick columns, replace stairs plus install new decking on front porch. Henry came out in Sept. to look over the site & give us an estimate. We asked if it needed any structural changes & he assured us we were OK. He insisted a permit was not needed & that since it was not part of the estimate, would raise the cost of the job if he pulled one. Putting our trust in his previous reviews, we agreed anyway. He agreed to work with us to spread the payments out over the course of the job. He did not warn us the quality of the job might be compromised as a consequence. The masons had to re-pour part of the front walk, including the bottom step of our stairs, a possibility not in the estimate. He called & said need more money to cover the materials cost. When asked for clarification, he got defensive. Concrete was vandalized same day. Henry came over & smoothed it out as best as he could afterward, but it would have been better to have protected the pour. After the masons finished, we pre-paid for the decking, then waited almost 2 months for Henry to come back. He told us he was stuck on another job because that client wanted to do more things. He returned in Dec. & told us he discovered rotten wood & that he had to rebuild the porch & to pay him another $2k. We expected him to have looked thoroughly when he wrote up the estimate. Feeling stuck, we agreed for him to finish the job. After he started work on the decking & stairs, I noticed the new stair risers heights were not consistent, new posts were hanging off of the wood they were supposed to be sitting squarely on, & the parts he charged us for earlier had not been installed. Structural fastening had all been done with the same type of decking screw & if one was done sloppily. Met with him & pointed all of these things out. Every answer in defense of his decisions led us to believe he was cutting corners. He agreed to add the joist hangers (which he already charged us for) & move the posts & that work on making the stairs more consistent. His solution was to take the first two stringers that he had cut too short & screw them to scrap lumber instead of replacing them with properly cut stringers. Two stairs are still more than an inch taller than the rest. He said they are pre-cut stringers. His solution to one stair was to leave an old board over the concrete step (that we just paid to have re-poured) to get the height closer-to & if we wanted to pay him more, he would make a permanent solution. The masonry looked very good until the stairs were replaced - the brick was built around the old dimensions of the stairs, so now there are jagged gaps on one side. He said we had to pay to fix that too. He blamed us for the masonry problems, saying it was our fault for asking to spread out the payments, although he never warned us of this being a possibility. Finally, the railings no longer fit the porch. On the
