Reviews
Write a ReviewMilltown plumbing was very professional. Scheduling the appointment was fast and easy. The technician arrived on time and was very knowledgeable and was able to diagnose the problem with my boiler very quickly. The tech was very polite and considerate of our home (he wore plastic covers over his boots). I would use them again.
Overall the work was done in a timely and professional manner. I had a slight problem after the technician left but it was remedied quickly.
Thank you for the review (consumer name withheld per their request), We appreciate it.
Milltown was the only place that would come on a Sunday. Although you pay extra for emergency services, it was well worth it. As it turns out I needed a new furnace and they were able to rearrange schedules so that someone could be there first thing Monday morning to install the new furnace. I will definitely use them in the future!
They were very responsive and professional.
Milltown Plumbing & Heating company over-the-phone quoted a flat fee of $85 to diagnose the problem and offer 6 solutions to repair my Bryant Gas heating & Cooling system; with the $85 counted towards the final cost if they did the work. I agreed. They came. They claimed they had experience with this system in response to my question when they came in and saw the unit. Once they opened the unit, the two people (one of them a supervisor named Christian, the younger one looked like a trainee) started telling me that the unit was very complex, as if they had never seen one before (note, they both had already claimed experience with this system) and for them to offer any solution the flat fee is now $195. Before coming on-site and before the quote, they knew from both my online project description as well as a long description and the history of the unit over-the-phone the type of unit that this was. So it was extremely unprofessional and dishonest of them to more than double the quoted fee for diagnosing the problem. I asked them either to honor the original agreement or leave. They left, after having wasted 20 minutes of my time. I was also dismayed when the younger guy came up from the basement, where the unit was, to the first floor w/o my permission. I would’ve given them 0-star rating if possible.
We're sorry you had such a poor experience with us! As a rule, if we need to use tools to investigate your equipment in order to sufficiently diagnose the problem, we charge a diagnostic fee. This is separate from the dispatch charge, which is a common charge in the home services industry which covers the cost of getting the technician out to the job and a visual inspection of the equipment. Once we realized the problem would require more in-depth investigation, we asked permission to investigate the system and explained the diagnostic fee. Due to the misunderstanding, we waived the dispatch charge normally associated with the job. Again, we're sorry we did not explain this as well as we could have. We take concerns about technicians doing anything without the customer's permission very seriously. We talked with the technicians involved. Part of the problem involved the thermostat controls, which were not in the basement. Therefore, the technician needed to ascend the stairs in order to inspect the thermostat. He asked permission before ascending, but since the customer was at the top of the stairs and called down, the answer was not clearly heard. The technician stopped as soon as he could clearly hear the customer. We're sorry for the misunderstanding.

Milltown was the third HVAC/Plumbing contractor I contacted to repair the vent pipe on my furnace. Honestly, I think I could have done the work myself, given that the pipe is simply a 2" PVC. But, this is the outgoing flue pipe, and I wanted to make sure it was done by a licensed plumber. The technician did an ok job, he broke the pipe rather than cut it, which resulted in a little piece falling into the pump that vents the exhaust gases from the furnace. But they came when they said they would and they did the repair for the price quoted. I would recommend them and hire them again.
Great response time to meet my needs.
I called on Monday morning and they sent a technician Monday afternoon. (Had called my usual plumber and they couldn't send a tech for a week, no) Thrilled with the office's quick response, plus Ari's excellent explanations, information about next steps, and good work with his good humor.
We noticed some dripping from where the soil pipe began to go through our basement wall to the outside town sewer system. We called three or four different plumbers to further diagnose and repair the leak. We found that several plumbers were not capable of or bonded for a sewer main repair. Milltown was the first qualified company to respond. Cody is there field technician. He came out within the day. He snaked a camera through the entire sewer line - nearly 200' from my basement wall to the street. He located the crack in the the original (45 years old) cast sewer main. With the camera system, he determined that there were no additional faults or blockages in our sewer line. So Cody was able to pinpoint the problem and contain the scope of the project. He provided an estimate for replacing 10' of old sewer line and replacing all of the other original cast piping in our basement with PVC. We scheduled a day for the job. He and his crew showed up on schedule and did the job in one day. The new drain/sewer system looks great and the leak is repaired. Cote and his crew were nothing short of excellent. They were professional and courteous. They completed the job as agreed on time and within Cody's quote. This was a big job. It's good to know it was done right. Milltown will be our "go to" plumbing company from now on.
