My roof was long overdue for a replacement, so I got quotes from three different folks. Modern Roofing came in lower than others and the sales process was detailed and they had good reviews! So I chose them. But it was a pretty horrible experience having them replace the roof. Communication issues started pretty much immediately - I had to initiate all conversation to figure out what was happening, when folks were showing up, and where in the project we were. Andrew S never once proactively communicated, and I had to let him know about the problems, instead of the other way around. I would spent awhile picking a shingle color I liked, only to be told a week later it was not even available in California. A good example of how disorganized and uncommunicative the entire company was. Day 1 of work - they broke the neighbor's window from a leaf blower sliding off the roof. Debris from my old shingles were absolutely everywhere, including on top of three neighbors' roofs up and down the street. Multiple asks to clean it up went unanswered (though they did clean a little bit eventually). There's still debris there today. Price ended up being 150% of the original quote... making them the most expensive of the companies I researched because apparently 1400 sqft of OSB + install costs ~12k. That is with a 15% discount because that much wood was covered in the original contract. Of course they could not tell that it was going to be necessary up front... They took advantage of the project being partway done, shingles missing, roof exposed to the elements, and pressured us to move it forward. It's an exorbitant upcharge but I had no real choice but to pay it and move forward. Completely scummy. Gutters took an extra week... and of course were the wrong color. Took another week to get them to reinstall the right color, and creepily, I just noticed them a different color one day. No communication whatsoever about when they were swapping them or that someone was going to be in my backyard doing work. This was the norm for the whole project. One day it rained, they knew about it because they did not come to work on the roof that day, but left the exposed roof untarped so it rained in my kitchen where there is no attic (and I am sure it rained in the attic too). They sent someone over to tarp up when I called Andrew S, but again, absolutely zero thought going into the project from the project manager. The vents that they installed? Wrong side of the house from what we discussed upfront. When we build out the attic, we'll now need to move them to the other side. Payment schedule? Naw, just a huge lump sum at the end. I have no faith in the quality of the work given the horrible experience and rushed, cut-all-the-corners feel throughout. Almost nothing went right. Stay away from this company, project manager, and anything they try to sell you.

When we discovered a leak in our stucco overhang, we immediately started looking for someone to help us determine the issue. Modern Roofing was the first company to respond. We were dreading the process, knowing that many roofing companies seem to "disappear" after repairs. Rome and George came out to inspect the damage and quickly discovered our leak issue was indeed caused from a major roof issue! They were able to show us what exactly the problem was. Apparently, the previous roofers had cut numerous corners to save "themselves" money! After visiting with Rome and George and listening to the facts about their company, my husband and I knew we had found the right people to entrust with solving our issues. Rome and George sat with us and explained the materials they would be using. They made us feel like "family" and "friends". Our visit lasted almost 3 hours! We were confident that we had made the right decision. The project was soon started. Rome and George kept us informed of each step. I can't express enough how impressed I am with not only Rome and George, but each worker that was on this job. If you are looking for an honest, top notch company to help you with your home, I highly recommend calling Modern Roofing and Home Improvements first! They are likely to win you over on their first visit and save you time and money. Thank you Rome and George! I feel like I have made two new friends! â

They showed up, rushed and finished the work. The cosmetic tiles were supposed be taken down and placed back on the house as per agreement. They did a extremely bad job with the tiles on my 100 year old house. They ruined my homes curb appeal. Then after the job was done I asked them to come over and fix the messed up broken crooked tiles.. They kept pushing back on it, saying it is not their problem. I had to climb on the roof to work with them to get it at least in a semi acceptable. I am now trying to fix their mess and getting new quotes. I had a new leak after their work was completed(less than a week) . They blamed it on the window. Didnâ t even come over to check it out. The project manager is now ignoring my calls. I have a tarp on my roof and I am waiting for another contractor to come and fix their mistake. I am in the process of filling a complaint with CSLB due to the disregard about my leak and poor craftsmanship.

I dealt with Johnny who works for Modern Roofing, made this a pleasant experience. He made sure everything was done correctly and clean. He did inspection and asked the workers to finish up in a way that was promised. I never wrote a review on this stuff and not particularly like dealing with construction, but I am glad I choose this company and worked with Johnny.

We had a roofing issues for a while and one of our family member recommended me Modern Roofing. They scheduled an appointment at the same day. The cost was reasonable and the job was done within a day! Highly recommended!
