Reviews
Write a ReviewThis review is written before any work has begun. We met with two representatives in our home. They were very professional and knowledgeable of the roofing system. We signed a contract and financial agreement and are looking forward to the installation of our new roof. Our representatives were Lance Fagen and Bryce Bower.
The sales guys have You write a review before the work is even completed to get an additional discount. So at first my initial response was a five star, because the sales part went quite well (I thought). I was having them redo my gutters even though that was not originally what I had them come out to give me an estimate for. My old ones were Working fine they just definitely needed new paint. Need to paint the gutters and call it good , but By having a professional company do my gutters, it would be a better idea since it is exterior and I wanted to MAKE SURE the job got done correctly. They installed the gutters without me there. They broke my motion sensor light bulbs which they did not mention or offer to pay for. The gutters do not do what they are supposed to because they must have left a gap between the house and the gutter because the rain falls through behind the gutters . When I contacted their company to fix this they said it would be an additional $750 and they would require that I sign a release of liability on my roof. I stated I would not have done this project at all and it did not really even need to be done(my old gutters were working fine), but the sales guys assured me that they do a really good job and they are custom fit to the house to avoid leakage even without a drip edge or flashing . I refuse to pay the extra $750 so they offered to do it for FREE but still they are requiring that I sign a release of liability in order to complete the work. I contacted a lawyer and found this is an illegal practice so I will not be signing and this experience has been a nightmare! I'm hoping they will fix the problem like they promised me several times they would. I just can't sign "Release of liability" already shown they cannot be trusted.
While work on my project hasn't started yet I was so impressed by the professionalism and thoroughness of Trever and Nathan with whom I met, that I want to comment. They explained the product, scope of work, financing options and timing so I know what to expect. I'm confident the work will be completed properly.
The work is yet to be done. I met with RJ and Haz. RJ was knowledgeable and informative about the product. He explained everything with great detail and precision. He wasn't pushy or high pressure and I enjoyed our interaction. Haz was friendly and helpful. The siding that Dabella will provide for my home is a superior product and less expensive than the other options I've considered. Overall, working with RJ and Haz has been a very pleasant experience.
It's not a quick inspection. They take their time to make sure they do it right the first time.
The job was delayed due to snow, and took longer than was expected, but once it was done, it looks and works great!
To begin this review - The company, DaBella, took immediate action in follow up response for our consultation request. Thank you for not keeping us waiting! We live out on the coast and it usually takes several weeks to months for a response with an actual consult. At this time we have worked with Bryce Bowers and Dukens Surkin. The two gentlemen came and went through the entire process of re-roofing our home. They took their time and explained all the materials used in the project, completely down to the type of nails used! We were very impressed with the presentation. We already had previous consultations with other roofing companies. However, Bryce and Duken were by far the most thorough in explanation and answering our questions. We have decided to purchase our new roof from DaBella. Thank you gentlemen for your time and enthusiasm. We will be updating the review following the roof installation.
Jennifer Henry came out and inspected my siding. Then we sat down and discussed the inspection results. She pointed out a couple of things I had wrong then gave me a price. She also said that my siding looks in good shape and doesn't need to be replaced.
I have two contrasting opinions of my Da Bella experience, through the salesman who sold us the project, of course to hear from him, this co, has no equal. By the signing of the contract, and what a lengthy contract it is, I came to realize, that Da doesn't want to be held liable for quite a number of situations that will come about in a job of this magnitude, such as the mess that will happen in your attic space and anything that would damage your home due to the contractor who delivers the materials. Call me old school, this leads me to my second opinion, after extensive work in the attic was necessary, leaving quite the mess, after talking to an off-site super visor, about the clean up, well, he stuck to his guns about his liabilities repeating to me how I had signed a waver concerning this matter. Now Jose and his brother Jerry, are different in this matter, I could tell them of my frustrations, and after a hand shake, and their word, on the matter, they not only attended to the matter of clean up, but shown to me how a mans WORD, and his INTEGRITY, are still the bedrock of any business. I think Da Bella's can learn from this two men of integrity, and not be so bound down in their legalities
We contacted DaBella for information through their website, and they called us back within a couple hours, and scheduled an estimator out the next day. Other vendors responded with estimator availability in the weeks, and one vendor made it clear that my house was too small to be worth her time (it's ~1500 sqft, so not exactly tiny, but it's not a huge job). Joel Pickell did the initial consultation with us, which was very thorough and informative. He's also been our named contact throughout the project, and has been very responsive when we had questions. As part of our evaluation process, we looked at other installers including Home Depot, who offered comparable materials at a lower installed price; however, we also found multiple online reviews from customers that found that low-end materials were installed instead of what they had paid for. This included customer reviews posted on their website. In their defense, they've got a huge network of installers, and considering the scale and their focus on price, I imagine some subcontractors feel the squeeze, and a few shady installers trying to make a better profit is probably inevitable. Between reading a few horror stories and talking to (or not hearing from) the handful of estimators that we contacted, we felt like DaBella was more trustworthy and responsive, and used materials that were likely to last in our very rainy climate. Given their demonstrated focus on customer experience and reputation, we inferred that they were probably also monitoring and treating their subcontractors better, which accounted for some of the price difference. The installation itself was very smooth. The crew was polite, fast and efficient. As promised, my yard looked like a bomb went off after the initial tear-off, and was then thoroughly cleaned. The guys were also thoughtful about tarping landscape that was in the splash zone, and not destroying my garden and other plants with heavy debris or foot traffic. The installation itself was completed over the next two days, and the roof looks great. The real test will be how the roof performs over the next couple dozen Portland winters, but I'm very pleased with the process and support to-date, and am glad that I chose to go with DaBella.
