Repair person was courteous and professional. Completed a hot water heater replacement as scheduled. Performed additional work on rationalizing awkward piping left by an earlier plumber. Would recommend this company for similar work.

On Sunday 9th Sep found a leaky hot water heater (WH) in my Lake Worth, FL Condo. I was flying back the next day NJ Monday 10th for knee surgery scheduled for Tuesday 11th Sep. As I had no choice and needing to replace/install a WH that Sunday, I went through for a WH plumber, and within 10 minutes received a call from Rodberg Plumbing. Was advised by the owner Steven a plumber would come by for an estimate. Prior to his arrival my research estimated a replacement cost (WH only) of $450-$600 for a low boy WH to fit under my air conditioner unit. Capacity: 38 gal. After a half hour later, he arrived. Only to quotes me a price of $1695, which I found as unacceptable. Replacing an electric WH is relatively straight forward. He stated it was Sunday to justify his cost. Spoke to the owner and best he would do is for $1500. No other plumbers called and as I had no other choice I agreed to the $1500 cost that took all of on hour to complete. To say it mildly, this was price gouging in its purest form. Labor to install should have been no more than $500. Fast forward an hour later I notice water leaking into the drain pan. Upon inspection I see the leak in the new WH, but also notice my non-disposable plastic air conditioner filter just above the WH was scorched with holes from the plumber's torch work (filter should have been removed before torch work). Called the plumber, he came, confirmed leak, but not replace it that Sunday. His reply, call us the next time you are in town and we will replace it. Mind you I had to shut off the main house water and drain the WH myself. This left me with no water the rest of the day, and on Monday I flew back to NJ for my knee surgery. Advised Rodberg Plumbing I was flying back to FL Tuesday 18th Sep specifically to deal with replacement WH; it was not installed until Thursday 20th Sep. As a result, I had no water for these 2 days. On the filter, I had followed up several times leaving text messages that I will be leaving FL for NJ on 27th Sep. To date no reply from Rodberg Plumbing. So, to sum up: Rodberg Plumbing is an opportunistic plumber who practices price gouging, installs defective product, and has no regards for the customer's well being.
