Alexander Davis Contracting arrived on time, completed work quickly and efficiently. They are a fabulous company to work with.
Thanks John
Excellent work by a great American company. I have a huge deck and that includes lattice work, a lot of railings and overheads. They covered everything beautifully.
Chuck has something that a lot of Americans don?t have any more integrity
They did an amazing job! They even went above and beyond; a fantastic job overall.
Thank you so much
I don t normally write negative reviews but I am submitting this review because we are extremely disappointed with Alexander Davis Contracting for the work they did on our deck. We chose this company because of excellent reviews on HomeAdvisor, and are puzzled to understand why the ratings were so positive, as the work they did on our deck had a number of problems. We paid a premium price, expecting quality work, which is not what happened. They replaced several floor boards as well as the fascia on one end of the deck. Replacing the fascia required disassembling the railing and fascia, floor boards, and one riser of the steps. That work generally went well. Problems were as follows: 1. The wiring for the deck lights was cut without even asking me what the wiring was for. 2. There were a few nails that were shot diagonally that missed the ledger board and left with the points sticking out dangerously within reaching distance from the ground. 3. Quite a bit of small debris and wood chips were left in the yard where removed wood had been stacked. 4. The paint used was Behr Premium Advanced Deck Over a very good product IF it is applied properly. Proper painting depends upon proper surface preparation BEFORE the paint is applied. Their approach was just to replace the boards and slap on the paint in one very heavy coat with almost no surface preparation. They did a quick pressure wash the day before painting, which was not adequate. They did not allow time for the surface to thoroughly dry. It rained at 8:00 am the next day, and they showed up with a leaf blower, intending to blow-dry the puddles. I had to insist that they wait a day before painting, since the paint label said to allow 24-hours for the surface to dry before painting, and so they painted the next day even though the wood still was not completely dry. 5. I allowed time for the paint to cure before putting anything onto the deck, and it has already started to peel off in many spots. The paint was applied with a roller in one very heavy coat, which caused it to glob in between the floorboards, so that there is no way for water to drain off the deck surface. Later reading the paint directions, I see the recommendation for two thin coats, and the warning that over-application would lead to peeling, which is what is happening. 6. I am now forced to go over the entire deck surface with a Skill-saw to remove the globs of paint between the boards, and then I will need to remove much of the peeling paint they applied, and will have to re-paint the entire deck surface with two thin coats. Most of the money I paid for them to paint was completely wasted. On the plus side, the crew as pleasant, as was Mr. Davis, though he did tell us that it s impossible not to have the globs of paint between the floorboards. When we told him that we would painted the deck by hand previously and not had this problem, he backed off. He also wrote on the order, upon final payment, that he would come back and power wash the siding in the spring. That is fine, though it really does not need doing currently, and frankly, we would d rather have had the job done correctly to begin with, instead of having to re-do much of the work ourselves.
There is something really wrong with this man and woman we bent over backwards.
They did a really good job.
