it turned out I did not need a new water heater. The drain was clogged. The plumber cleared the drain and it has been working perfectly ever since. He explained that they do not work on commission so he had no hidden incentive to sell me something I didn't need.

Quite expensive for the money. To get a quote they must do a service call which when they do is quite expensive. The price for giving the service call to get a quote is also separate and not taken off when the job is done. For me to get a toilet installed , supplied in box with instructions, was almost $350.00! Quite high for a job which roughly only took 30 minutes of work. The tech also through out the box with all the paperwork with warranty info etc. Was $330.
Response from Company:
Like most professionals in the service industry we do have a service fee that is additional to the work we perform. It costs money to get a trained professional to your door for a guaranteed appointment (if we are late, we pay you!). We do free estimates for larger jobs, but not for smaller ones. We have several appointment options that could have lowered your service fee, but you did not choose them. Based on when you scheduled the appointment for we could have waived the service fee with work done, and if you give us a call in the future and mention it, I will ensure that is done for you.

I thought the price was a little too high

The plumber showed up as scheduled, stuck to his estimate, and performed the work in a timely and professional manner. The answering service though is a bit annoying.

Michael F. Was a great representative of the company. I had to have an outside faucet replaced. He had to cut into the wall to install the new one. Michael said let me try to make this look better for you and installed a support board and put the siding back on and caulked it! Most plumbers would have left it the way it was. The pricing was fair due to being a holiday weekend. Thanks again Michael!

They started out digging and decided they need to replace the whole line. Then charged me for the first dig and the remainning digging. Then it took a whole week to complete. They wanted access to my place for when I was not there and I was not going to let them. Then wanted to push out my completion schedule. Then used the tactic to see how much I have on my credit to charge the limit. You better get more quotes before using them.
Response from Company:
To give you the price for the repair required finding where the leak was so we would know what was needed to make the repair. The price to locate the leak was given to you and approved by you before any work was started. Once it was determined that the line needed to be replaced, you were given the price for the replacement, and other repair options that you could have gone with, up front before any work was started. Replacing the line required a dig crew to be on site first, and then the replacement made, tested, and approved. This was done in a timely matter according to the schedule you made available for us. All pricing was given up front

The rep who came to install our water was the best. He was courteous, professional, and cleaned up his mess.

The plumber arrived on time and quickly gave me an estimate. He began work and a helper arrived to assist him. When they completed the repair, the areas where they had been working were spotless and my final bill came to exactly what was estimated.
